NANETS COVID-19 Vaccination Position Statement

Given that neuroendocrine tumors are common among MEN patients, we’d like to highlight a recent COVID-19 vaccination position statement released by the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS).

As a brief summary, NANETS supports COVID-19 vaccination for anyone who has had or currently has neuroendocrine neoplasms, assuming other reasons do not limit that person from receiving a vaccine. Neuroendocrine neoplasms include neuroendocrine tumors such as pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, medullary thyroid carcinoma, and carcinoid tumors and neuroendocrine carcinomas. Additionally, they recommend prioritizing anyone who is actively receiving cancer treatments, has completed treatments in the last six months, or is expecting to be on treatment soon.

Below are links to the position statement as well as NANETS’s general information regarding COVID:

We have also updated AMEND USA’s COVID-19 website to reflect this position statement and would like to thank NANETS for providing a statement regarding COVID vaccination for those in our patient community who fall into this category.

2021 WorldMEN Conference

The WorldMEN conference is attended by a wide audience of endocrinologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, oncologists, geneticists and more, all concerned by the diagnosis and management not only of multiple endocrine neoplasia, endocrine tumor syndromes and the various diseases they include (Von Hippel Lindau disease, pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma, pituitary tumors, neuroendocrine tumors, neurofibromatosis, calcium disorders…), but also endocrine cancers in general.

This year’s WorldMEN conference will be held virtually (due to COVID -19) on April 29th & 30th.

In 2019, AMEND USA sent board representation to the WorldMEN conference held in Houston, Texas to share AMEND’s mission with the large list of attendees. AMEND USA also sponsored a poster award which was awarded to Dr. Costa-Guda’s for her outstanding presentation and poster on cyclin driven parathyroid neoplasia dependence on CDK4/6 in a murine model.

New Website and Mailing List

Toward the end of 2020, AMEND USA achieved its goal of having a website and contact list separate from the AMEND organization based out of the UK. While AMEND USA is ever grateful for the support from AMEND, there are some differences between the MEN experience in the USA and the UK. It’s for this reason that we hope to provide tailored information for the United States MEN audience.

If you haven’t signed up for our AMEND USA mailing list, you are more than welcomed to join. Many of the first people to sign up received a complimentary AMEND face mask. There are still a handful of masks left, so if you just signed up for the mailing list and would like to see if their are any masks left, reach out to the website admin account at amend.usa.web@gmail.com.
